A thriller is being played out of Sougia for the purpose of locating missing persons who came out with their kayaks.

According to the news, 10 tourists on a guided kayak tour started from Sougia to Paleochora, when due to the windy winds, they moved away from their destination and called for help.

Directly after the information reached the port police, there was a mobilization of the port police's ships from the Paleochora port station, individuals as well as the shipping company NEN Crete, to search for the tourists.

Shortly before 12 noon, 8 out of 10 missing people were found near the Krokodilos site [near Paleochora], but the other two, reportedly women, remain missing, while their canoe was found earlier in the sea.

There is currently a large port police and private enterprise with extra vessels that "comb" the sea area to find the two women.
