Chania Airport: Ryanair's departure has sank domestic flights - 8 July, 2018
A decrease of 0.9% for the first half of 2018 is recorded in the passenger traffic of Chania Airport, compared to the corresponding period of 2017, according to data released by Fraport.
Although this reduction is considered marginal, reading the rest of the passenger traffic statistics in a peak month like June is causing even the most optimistic concerns.
The big bet for increasing domestic flights all year round so far seems to compete in difficulty with targets for primary surpluses by 2060, since, following Ryanair's departure, in June, a decline in traffic was recorded by 38,9% for domestic flights compared to the same month of the previous year.
Overall, in the first half of 2018, there was a decrease of 22.9% in domestic flights, an increase of 12.2% in foreign flights and in total the traffic in "Daskalogiannis" in the first half of 2018 recorded a small decrease of 0.3% compaired to the first semester of 2017.
