Seismic vibration in the mountains of Sfakia - 4 February, 2020

An unusual earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale occurred at 2:57 pm today with the focus being in the mountainous areas of Sfakia. [just north of Imbros]

It was also superficial and thus felt by locals.

Specifically, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was 19 kilometers south of the Kalives and its focal depth is estimated at only one kilometer.

According to the Geodetic Institute of the Athens Observatory, the epicenter of the earthquake was 7 kilometers northeast of Chora Sfakion, while its focal depth is estimated at 9 kilometers.
