Still more old photos from Agios Ioannis
The first picture shows village muleteer Bartholomeo coming up from the Aradena Gorge. Before the bridge was built everything had to be transported in and out of Agios Ioannis on mules: down to the bottom of the Aradena Gorge and up again on the other side.
In the second picture a young Andonis (Georgedakis who now has the Alonia Guesthouse in Agios Ioannis) and his uncle (also Andonis) making cheese.
The last picture is a portrait of the shepherd Andreas.

I have taken the village of Agios Ioannis to my heart. Life before the bridge must have been very difficult.

I had an interesting observation in Agios Ioannis in January 2015. It was Sunday and election (where Syriza won) in the old school of Agios Ioannis, which now occasionally serves as a kafenio.

I took a cautious look into the school, right at the entrance at a table were two polling officers and leisurely drank their raki. Was cold too ......

In January 2014, a storm caused great damage to the olive trees.

How many people live in Agios Ioannis today, at the end of the world?
