According to a relevant Act of Legislative Content (Government Gazette A ‘138/ 05.08.2021), until Monday 9 August at 06:00, it is prohibited throughout the country:

– the access, transit or stay in NATURA areas, forests and forested areas, by any means or manner.

– any outdoor activity that may cause a fire, such as, work or activities that may cause overheating (eg oxygen welding) or activities that involve the combustion of flammable material (eg waste) or activities that pose a risk of ignition (e.g. apiculture).

Avoid unnecessary travel.

If you see smoke or fire, please call the Fire Department on 199 immediately.

Therefore, we inform the visitors that, for their own safety, until Monday 9 August at 06:00 the entrance to the Samaria National Park is prohibited.

Next to the Samaria Gorge is also Balos, Elafonisi, Preveli, Knossos, Imbros Gorge and Spinalonga until Monday morning closed.
