Anyway, amused by "a mighty swim" to Marmara - has anyone actually swum there from Loutro? Not saying it's impossible, but the walk is faster and a lot less strenuous - and then you can swim at leisure.

Kalispera Noah, you always see people in Crete swimming a great distance.

A good option would be to walk a bit and take a taxi boat for a bit.

Heh. Yes, I have walked to Marmara from Loutro, via Livaniana and lower Aradena gorge, and also the full gorge from the bridge; I have returned to Loutro on foot, and by taxi boat also. However, I'm not interested in swimming that far!
