Early this morning there was some light rain, coating all surfaces with red Sahara dust, which created a lot of extra cleaning work for the businesses and locals. The internet forecasts say that we should be free of dust by tomorrow, but then we may get some rain late on Monday and on Tuesday
It was warm overnight and throughout the day, especially out of the breeze, and when the sun broke through the dust clouds it really felt hot. The sea was too rough for any boats today, as yo could see from the webcam, but was wonderful to watch and listen to. Of course the biggest waves always hit the rocks and shore when you don’t have a camera ready. The colours in the sea are beautiful when the sea is turbulent and drags pale gravel deposits out to mix with the deep blue hues.
Tourists who wanted to get to Loutro today had to either get driven to Finix and walk around the headland, or brave the waves which swamped the E4 path across Sweetwater beach. Ilingas beach was also totally covered by waves, but we saw one brave man contemplating the forces of nature on a rock by the caves. A few people found a dry patch of sand to sit on at Vrisi beach, but swimming was out of the question today.

We spotted another stunning blue rock thrush from the road, and a griffon vulture flew low over us on the walk back to Sfakia.
