Sfakia report, April 2nd

by jean h » 02 Apr 2022, 20:31

It was another warm, hazy and humid day, with the Sahara dust cloud predicted to hang around for another few days.

The Samaria ferry arrived this morning from Paleohora and made the trip to Loutro, Agia Roumeli, Gavdos and back here this evening in the mist. The Sweetwater boat was running all day, too.

More tourists are trickling into the village, and I wasn’t the only person swimming today. There was a decent amount of restaurant trade at both lunch and dinner.

On the back street the Ju Jitsu club held its Saturday classes, and it was lovely seeing so many children in their white uniforms. As a warm up, they ran along the front and back streets many times - it’s good to see the young people getting fit.

Tonight all is quiet, but tomorrow - Sunday - should be more lively with Cretans from the north coming to Sfakia to enjoy a meal.
