To call a UK mobile from another country use the full international phone number.
Your call will go via the UK to the receiving phone regardless of where it is located.

If you want to keep contact with another UK-number while you are both in Crete, it will be cheaper to buy Greek SIMcards. Otherwise, when you call from Crete you pay the traffic from Crete to UK, and the recipient pays the traffic from UK to Crete.
We only carry ours for emergency calls, so we keep our Danish SIMcards working, we just don't answer calls that aren't important.

I think for most UK service providers then while we are still in EU(???) all call can be mad as if you are in the UK which will mean free calls for many service plans people are likely to be on.

Good advice from Dorthe. I think you can only get the Greek SIM cards in Chania.
Does anyone know if they are available in Sfakia?

We use Cosmote sim cards in old smartphones we keep only for use in Crete. We stay in the Sfakia region and had to buy the cards in Chania. They last 4 weeks and you need your passport with you. I have forgotten what they cost.
We're sorry we didn't do it years ago. We listen to the radio all the time on our phones.

I think I bought my SIMcard in Athens Airport waiting for flight to Chania. I'm not sure whether you can get it in Daskalogiannis Airport.

Last year I could not get a SIM card in Athens airport. I had to wait until I got to Chania.
