Re: Will Visa be needed if 'No Deal' Brexit??

Sadly, another thing that needs to be checked is the International Driving Permit, especially if you are transiting through other countries. I found it confusing, but when I looked on the UK Gov site a couple of weeks ago it appeared that you need to check which IDP you need ... driving through Fran...

The Villa Ariadne, Dilys Powell

Firstly, can I say 'Hello, Again'! I've been away from the forum for some time and my last trip to Crete was 2013. I've not seen mention of the Villa Ariadne elsewhere, but I can thoroughly recommend it. Although it focuses on the background to the development of Knossos from the days of Sir Arthur ...

Re: When are you coming to Crete (again) in 2018?

Hi Erno,

Thanks for the information. Now I can plan whether it would be sensible (the last time I went away for a 'special birthday', it was to the Camargue ... it was freezing!)

Best wishes,
Nick

Re: When are you coming to Crete (again) in 2018?

After an absence of too many years, I am hoping to get to Sfakia again in 2018. The thing is, I have a certain birthday coming up, but it is in December. Now, I've been to Crete in the winter months (Zakros, Kokkinos Pirgos, and Paleochora) ... they're no good ... it needs to be Sfakia. Erno ...help!

Re: Anopolis/Aradena/Marmara then Loutro

My two cents ... although I haven't been to Crete for 3 years, now  Mike's recounting the couple on Gingilos ... remember the two Poles (I think) who died in Tripiti when they were with a group walking the Samaria Gorge? On the hillside between Loutro and Anopoli, a walk I used to do just to wa...

All the best laids plans ... I should have flown into Chania last Saturday but, for the third time now, my trip has had to be abandoned.

Re: Lost dog.

Years ago, I walked up to Sopata from Anopoli. As I passed the Limnia road, a dog came out to meet me and was wagging its tail, rather than growling, so I simply ignored it. It followed me along the road and up the track towards Amoutsera. We then became companions and it stayed with me all the way,...

All I would say is that if he is moving eastward from Kato Zakros, it would be a wet trip ;)

Re: Greek goat hooks itself on to a cable and was rescued

Through work I am being consulted on a new 440kV overhead electricity line across east Kent ... I think I need to send this to our national electricity company (National Grid) to ensure that they have accounted for such occurrences!
