Thank you, Roland, for the description of this great walk. Probably, not many people have been there!
Best wishes

Hi Jan, I have just read on Facebook that Agia Irini is passable but the path has vanished in several places so that it takes more time to cross the gorge. I assume the path from Koustogerako to Ag. Theodoroi should be OK - it does not run near to the cliffs or on very steep terrain. Best wishes Simon

Hi Jan, I have heard that there are damages in the Agia Irini gorge and that it might not be walkable. But I do not have precise or updated information on this. The other gorges of the White Mountains do obviously not have suffered so much from the bad weather but the Selino area has. It might be a ...

Hello, it is good to hear that the paths are in good condition and that you could pass. The EOS has invested a lot of time in repairing them. The gorge after Profitis Ilias you are referring to is not the Agia Irini but the Tripiti gorge. The Agia Roumeli community has - by the way - repaired the E4...

We have seen both new boats tied in the harbour of Souda in early March. I hope they will be able to cope with the "ports" of Sfakia!
Best wishes

OK, I see. An avalanche combined with the location in a basin makes 45 m somehow possible. According to my information, the avalanches occurred in the north of the White Mountains. This means that the mitato should be located somewhere in Kerameia. I wonder if he will find the mitato at all because ...

I also assume that the mitato must be stuck under an avalanche. I have seen some photographs of the high mountains. There are (or have been) some meters of snow. Around Kallergi, there was so much that the ground floor was covered and you could walk straight onto the roof! But 45 m is unlikely. Are ...

We have used the "new" = refurbished airport already and I really wonder where they want to place the passengers. There is now less space (with regards to seats) than before and the whole area with the gates has become very confusing: The exits to the busses are now in the centre and not t...

In more detail: The main road to Sfakia and further to Anopolis and Agios Ioannis is mainly OK. The road towards Frangokastello is also mainly OK. The road up from Patsianos to Kallikratis has some damages but is passable. The same is true for the Imbros/Askifou to Kallikratis road (minor damages). ...

Jim, I think you can expect lots of flowers when you are there. Now, in early March, there were still very few flowers, due to the cold winter. They should be ou by then in huge quantities, especially in "intermediate" heights. Be aware: The bus connections at this time of the year are pro...
