The funeral was this morning, Sunday, at 11:30. The cause of death is now given as pulmonary oedema.
"A bad day for Sfakia" they are saying. Yes, indeed.

Some very familar family names – and we were especially pleased to see a picture of our dear friend Angeliki Tsardi, who we only knew as a delightful elderly woman. For those who dont know, Αντικριστό "Andikristó" refers to cooking meats etc 'facing the heat' i.e. not over it. It helps if you put the emphasis on the last syllable of the word so that no one will get confused with Aντίχριστος "Andíchristos" = 'Antichrist', which has the emphas...

Dear Sean and Luke, Please be warned that the local people here in Chora Sfakion have really had enough of answering questions from young British people about "austerity". Tourists will probably be less unhappy.

Normal service resumed

The weather is transformed - sunshine, a not-too-strong breeze, the sea reasonably calm - and the Port Police have obviously given the all-clear for normal service to be resumed. The Samariá , having been to Agia Roumeli, Gavdos and back overnight, did not leave Chora Sfakion (from the new harbour) ...
