Great report again Jean. When we were in Sfakia a few weeks back we were intrigued with the building works going on at the Panorama Hotel. The scaffolding and general safety was something else. Not what a retired Civil Engineer of 37 years expected - LOL!

Hi. We drove up to Kallikratis on the morning of Saturday 19th. There was low cloud on the drive up, but this cleared for us to 'enjoy' the drive back down to Kapsadosis. We then drove onto Frangokastello and had to hide in a cafe for almost an hour during a cloudburst. After midday the hot sun retu...

Hi Jean, thanks for your usual descriptive reports and great photos. We moved on to Plakias from Sfakia on Sunday 20th, and stayed until 23rd. I can confirm that whilst it was gloriously sunny and hot, the wind was very strong. We drove to Katsouni and Ligres Beaches on consecutive days and were gra...

A cloudy morning on 18th October, so we decided to walk from Vritomartis up the Sfakiano Gorge. We walked for about 1.5 hours then returned climbing out of the Gorge by taking the footpath marked with red dots to the 12 Apostles Church in Hora Sfakion. Very interesting walk - we saw no-one else.

Today we caught the 9am bus from Sfakia to Aradena. We then walked towards Agios Ioannis turning off at the footpath to the Sellouda. What a breathtaking view and dramatic climb down to Agios Pavlos where we spent a lovely couple of hours sunbathing and swimming before completing our walk to Agia Ro...

Saturday's weather was spectacular with temperatures in very close to 30°C late afternoon. We took spectacular sunset photos just below Vritomartis. Still beautiful sat on our balcony listening to cigales chirping in tune to Vrito outside music. The coming week's weather looks equally superb. We sha...

Thanks Jean. We were hoping to get to Aradena then walk to Agia Roumeli stopping off at Agios Pavlos beach then getting ferry back. As we don't arrive until 10th, we might need a plan B.

We will be staying in Paleochora in early October and hope to visit Sougia by ferry. Does anyone know if there is a return fare as opposed to the 11€20 each way? We plan on walking part of the Agia Irini Gorge from Sougia end in the morning, before spending the afternoon on the beach. Any tips or a...
