We've walked this route a number of times, both up and down. My husband isn't fond of heights but having descended the 'new' steps route as well as the ladders said he'd choose the ladders any day. Your daughter might prefer to ascend the gorge from Marmara beach (boat from Loutro) rather than desce...

We'll be in Anopolis in a few days - currently at the Small Paradise (Lykos). I don't know when Jean B's photo was taken but it's been very hot this past week so any remnants of snow still on the road will, I guess, have melted though the heaps at the side of the road could be still there.

I've just checked the British Library catalogue (the national library who should hold a copy of every book/journal/pamplhlet published in the UK) and that of the Library of Congress (same responsibility in the US) and can't find any entry for any translations of Psychoundakis' poetry. That suggests ...

We missed our June trip to Crete last year (cancelled flights from the UK) but visited another island in September. Despite the regularly-changing requirements of (largely) the UK Government we found travel straightforward - the NHS pass was readily accepted and even getting the pre-return Covid tes...

For Joan (and of course anyone else interested) Our friend returned from Greece at the weekend. She says there were no checks on indoor diners though as I said before, she was on a small island and also one where residents' vaccination rates are by no means 100%. Neither should make a difference but...

Joan - a friend is travelling to Greece from the UK any day now, returning in a couple of weeks time. If I remember, I'll ask her on her return about her experience of indoor eating, though she's going to a very small island where I suspect rules may not be enforced in the way they might in a city. ...

A negative and not very helpful reply from me. We travelled to and from Greece in September and had no problems at all with entry or exit. It appears that the UK government has devolved responsibility for checking travel documents to the airlines, and on departure from the UK our airline (easyJet) s...

As this report is from the Sun 'newspaper', I don't put too much credence by the content. It may well be correct (though I'm hoping not, having a flight booked to Chania in early June) but there are conflicting views elsewhere in the media, print and online, suggesting that some of the islands inclu...

This Brit is hoping to come. Flights have been booked since last year - if they're cancelled we'll just have to (try to) grin and bear it. Nothing we can do to alter the situation. Last year we managed to get out in October and felt welcome in each of our stopping places (we walk from point to point...
