Re: Passenger Locator Form: QR code

From my own experience completing the form (but not yet having travelled) and that of my British brother and his Cretan wife who travelled last week, based on UK departure from Manchester to Heraklion: - the middle initial/name. The form asks for a middle initial not name. Fill in the box (which wil...

Re: First tourists on the beach

People swimming just now (10.13 UK time)! Rather them than me.

Re: Tripiti: One of the most beautiful but difficult gorges of Crete

I've only seen the start of the descent into Tripiti from above, where the E4 leaves the Gingilos col and turns west. It looks terrifying - steep, slippery scree!

Kiki's suggestion to try the Levka Ori forum is a good one, as Simon (who runs that site) is very familiar with the route.

Re: Aradena to Agia Roumeli

I'd suggest asking around at Ag Ioannis for a potential companion. Even though I've done this walk both up and down a number of times (often without seeing another soul away from the coast path) I'd be wary about walking alone - as Jean suggests, there probably won't be many other walkers around at ...

Thanks for the info Erno. I usually look on my phone, where the date info isn't the clearest - and now I know it's not live maybe I won't bother any more. A shame.

Re: 4.5 R Seismic vibrations south of Sfakia, many aftershocks

What surprises me most is that the pics from the beach webcam, which I assume to be live judging by the date in the top RH corner of the image, show a flat calm sea. I'd have thought that at least there might be the odd large waving rolling in.

Re: Sfakia report, October 17 – Livaniana, Aradena gorge, Marmara

The track was in place in June and looking very raw. When we asked about it at the Small Paradise Aidin said 'there are elections soon' - without putting words into her mouth, we got the impression that giving permission for the bulldozing might have resulted in an advantage to one of the political ...

Re: Walk Imbros-Kali Lakkoi-Skarfidakia-Mouri-Anopoli

The path is clearly shown on the Anavasi map but - in my opinion - is probably less clear on the ground. From the plateia, walk along the road towards Kambia and take the smaller road off left, uphill, as the 'main' road bends to the right. Pass the church at the top then wiggle left and right. When...

Re: ANENDYK special ferry trips for this week

I can't speak for October, but in previous years and earlier in the year it's been possible to do a 'bus swap' at the point where the routes from Sougia and Palaeochora meet. One bus then continues to Chania via Ag Irini village where the gorge begins. You then walk down the gorge to Sougia and pick...

Livania cafe

We walked down through Livania village yesterday, saying to each other how much we missed the café for its shade and views, not to. mention the refreshments. To our surprise, as we approached we heard the hum of a fridge motor then realised that the cafe gate was not fastened. Inside there was a lar...
