Re: Samaria gorge closed because of the heat wave

A little bit strange regarding Balos - because an excursion boat sailed today from Kissamos harbour.

Re: Ferries from Chora Sfakia

Thank you for your reports, Bob. During my visit in May / June this year in the Sfakia area, I also experienced the very friendly wellcome almost everywhere. People had time to sit together with the tourists, chat a lot and were relatively relaxed regarding the difficult situation. I would say this ...

Re: Ferries from Chora Sfakia

As far as I know you don't need a test if you take a boat along the cost. For the journey to Gavdos a test is required. In addition, you have to fill out a form.

Re: Buses

If you have booked in the village of Skaloti you should be prepared that there is no regular bus connection from Chora Sfakion. Therefore, in my opinion it is the best option to hire a car from Heraklion. Otherwise, you are basically stuck in this small village during your holidays.

Re: Samaria gorge partly opens on Saturday 22 May

The Samaria Gorge is open now. And the public busses depart from Chora Sfakion and from Sougia at about 18.30 hrs.

It seems to be a good time to walk through the gorge, since at least yesterday there were only few people who arrived in Aghia Roumeli.

Re: Planning to Come to Crete what should I do?

Dear Wiklu, Firstly, thank you very much for your recent photos from Sfakia. It ist so good to see, that things are slowly getting back to ‚normal‘. Regarding the tests that are required for return flights to Germany: according to the RKI also antigen tests are accepted that are in agreement with th...

Re: Covid tests in Sfakia (not Chania)

To get an answer on your question I would suggest that you contact the village health centre in Chora Sfakion. They should know about the nearest testing facilities. The antigen tests do not require more than 30 minutes before you get the test results. I am certain that there are labs in Chania and ...

Re: Dutch experiment with 200 tourists who will spend their holidays on a Greek island

Well, I don’t understand the sense of this ‘experiment’. 200 tourists are flown from The Netherlands to Rhodes into a resource where they will virtually stay in quarantine. If the hotel in Rhodes is clever enough to make sure that none of their staff will be infected nobody will contract the virus. ...

"I am trying to make a web site with some text and lots of pictures about the village in the late 70s. Slow work but I might finish it sometime... " Jassou Tone, it would be great to have such a collection of old pictures from Agios Ionannis. Thank you very much or your effort. Apart from ...
