Re: Proof of Covid Vaccination status if travelling from UK.

Thanks Jan. It will be good to know what happens in practice. I found this (translated by Google) in today's (Nov 10th) Haniotika Nea, which sounds reassuring: "The problem of entering retail stores and restaurants was faced by several citizens from third countries (ie countries outside the Eur...

Re: Proof of Covid Vaccination status if travelling from UK.

I wish I felt fully confident. The potentially big issue isn't the booster jab record - it's our lack of EU certification of the first two jabs. We ate in tavernas in Crete many times during September/October, almost invariably eating outside. The rules tightened as we left at the start of November ...

Re: Proof of Covid Vaccination status if travelling from UK.

Has anyone had any problems about the form not showing your full name whereas your passport does show your full name?? Thanks Dave[/quote] No problem for me on four UK/Greece flights this year. My NHS vaccination record shows only my first name; my passport has my middle name as well. Question from ...

Happy New Year - and androcymbium rechingeri

Hi all We went to Elafonisi yesterday for our annual January visit to see the androcymbium rechingeri flowers, having watched the weather forecast and chosen the day carefully. The weather was ideal. However we were completely thwarted, as there was far too much water to cross to the island where th...

Re: Sfakia report, May 2nd – Imbros gorge

Love the flowers, Jean.

We'd heard that there are currently lots of boulders from the Spring storms to scramble over at the bottom of the gorge - not great for oldies like us. Is that the case?

Re: Concern for the condition of the Samaria Gorge

Thank you very much, Joan, for the useful information about the road to Omalos and the flowers that are out now. I would imagine next week will be brilliant for flowers on Omalos - unfortunately we will be back in England for a few weeks. I'm attaching a widow iris picture and a shot of the road be...

Re: Concern for the condition of the Samaria Gorge

29 March, 2019 (latest news I could find): It is reported by the Prefecture of Chania that due to the continuous landslides caused by the recent bad weather, the roads Alikianos - Prasses - Sempronas (Hilario - Semprona section), as well as the Fournes - Lakki - Omalos road will be closed to traffi...

Re: Concern for the condition of the Samaria Gorge

Yes - we'd like to know about the road conditions too. We usually go up to Omalos to photograph the flowers about this time of year, but guess it may have to be delayed.

Re: The church in Crete which can only be visited once a year

Trying again with reduced sized pictures.

The fortress is in a very bad condition - but someone has had a sense of humour (see the three sailors).

The church is in much better shape.
