Ancient Falasarna: the most important harbour of West Crete - 16 October, 2016

The iconic representation of Ancient Falassarna was presented at the 1st Congress of Kissamos by the archaeologist of underwater antiquities, Elpida Hatzidakis.

She, as the director of excavations at Falasarna, has dedicated her life to the full disclosure of the major port of western Crete.

Ms. Hatzidakis' goal is to ultimately find all of the harbour installations, as the land and the area have yet to give many, as excavations continue.

See the impressive application below that represents how the port originally looked like.

The 'Phalasarna' app for iPhone and iPad is a situated simulation from Ancient Phalasarna on Crete and is available for free download on Apple's App Store. It tells the dramatic story of this ancient city with its spectacular closed harbour and its ultimate destruction by the Romans, all based on Dr. Elpida Hadjidaki's excavations.
All the best,
