Snow is melting, and Ilingas gorge looks like a glacier now - 1 April, 2019
With weather slowly improving, and temperatures rising, the abundance of snow in the White Mountains has started melting.
As reported earlier, this has caused avalanches throughout the mountain range, that are often huge, and now rapidly swelling, while the compact snow mass is slowly sliding downhill. At several spots in the White Mountains these large avalanches look like glaciers.
Here is how such a "glacier" looks in Sfakia, where the Ilingas gorge now looks like one. A truly spectacular sight, specially since it is already April from today.
